Muslims believe in One God -- ALLAH Subhana Wa Ta'ala -- and that the Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu 'Alaihi Wassalaam is the seal of all Prophets. In addition, there are five Pillars of Islam and the six Articles of Faith. Together, these things comprise the foundation of what it is to be Muslim.
It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah fearing.
[Al-Baqara, 2:177]
ALLAH- Belief in ALLAH (swt) There is One God and nothing compares to Him. This is the basic and most fundamental belief of Islam.
Al-Malaa'ikah- Belief in Angles Angels spend their days and nights, in the service of ALLAH (swt).
Al-Kutub - Belief in the Books (Scriptures) of ALLAH (swt) The books, including the holy Qur'an, the Injil, Zabur, and Taurat are guides which the Messengers (as) received to show their people the Right Path to ALLAH (swt). See our Holy Books section under History of Islam.
Ar-Rusul- Belief in the Prophets of ALLAH Every known nation had a Messenger from ALLAH (swt). These Messengers (as) were selected by ALLAH (swt) to teach people and nations the right path to Him. See our section on Prophets, under the History of Islam.
Al-Yawm il-Aakhir- Belief in the Day of Judgment and the Resurrection This world is only a stop along the way. The Day of Judgement will come when man and woman are each questioned about their deeds here on earth. Each deed is recorded on a register and will be the basis for the nature of our final journey to Him (swt).
Al-Qadar- Belief in Premeasurement / Divine Laws God is all knowing and well aware of what we do. We have free will, but His laws govern all aspects of our lives.
::: Quote
Islam's democratic challenge has perhaps never been equaled by any other religious or social system. Its advent on the Indian scene was marked by a profound stirring of consciousness. It modified the basis of Hindu social structure throughout northern India.
